Red.Store
From Bryce Fuller
Brand Purpose
The mission of RedStore is to provide compelling accessories that illustrate the synthesis between man and machine, while celebrating the ethos of both art and design. Textures and forms stay grounded with the human touch, while celebrating the precision and capabilities of robotics and technology. The duality between all of these worlds is where RedStore sits… so, come on this journey with us.
My Journey as a designer
Early in my career, I was known for my drawing and combination of both 2D and 3D works. I created a series of thesis collections which celebrated flat media with graphite and charcoal, while blowing them up into 3D space to push the limits of what composition, mark making, and fine art sculpture were capable of. I have always seen sculpture as an essential factor of drawing, and the other way around as well. This ideology is still present in my work of today with RedStore.
Material Synthesis
When I began my studies in Industrial Design, this widely expanded my view of what sculpture could become, using rigid manufacturing techniques to create fluid fine art works. As I began working with 3D printing technologies, I saw it as the perfect bridge between material craft and dimensional, digital interfaces that I had long since been fascinated with. The new material synthesis explored with RedStore has allowed me to bring in the elements of drawing and fine art sculpture that I know, with this new landscape of technology and precision manufacturing to create work unlike anything you’ve seen before.
The work
The RedStore accessory is rooted in the idea of design preservation. Our mission is to craft objects that feel as much like artifacts from ages past as they do forward thinking objects from future craftsman. The robotic printing method keeps the process feeling future forward, and connects to my design style and signature method of celebrating the craftsmanship and finish of robotically crafted works.
The Introduction of hand-drawn charcoal mark helps the work stay grounded in the physical, harkening back to ancient methods of art and craft, celebrating the human touch and importance of drawn mark in all I do. The complex texturing of the surface design allows me to employ this mark making within the digital landscape as well, further bridging the gaps between these two worlds.
